Well, hello there 👋

Whacky Knack Nook started the way most good things do: with a single skein of yarn, a rainy weekend, and a YouTube tutorial that went very badly for the first three hours. The first thing ever made here was supposed to be a hat. It became a very sincere-looking lump. That lump is still in a drawer somewhere, and we love it.

Since then the nook has produced octopuses, gnomes, plant hangers, beanies, and at least one blanket that took an entire winter and most of a spring. Everything is made by hand in a small room with bad lighting, a growing yarn pile, and a cat who believes the project in progress belongs to her.

Why "whacky knick knack"?

Because that's genuinely what it is — a nook full of whacky knick-knacks. Nothing here is mass-produced, nothing here is perfectly even, and nothing here is boring. If a tentacle is a stitch longer than its neighbour, that's a feature. Call it handmade character.

How this works

• Available pieces exist, are finished, and can head to you right away.
• Made to order pieces get hooked fresh, usually within one to two weeks, in whatever colours you pick.
• Sold pieces are gone, but most patterns are repeatable — ask for a near-identical sibling.

What's in the yarn basket

Mostly a soft acrylic-cotton blend for plush things (it holds shape and survives a wash), and worsted cotton for anything that gets handled a lot. Colours lean to the candy end of the spectrum: coral, mint, sunny yellow, lavender, and whatever jumped into the basket that month.

Everything is spot-clean unless noted. Nothing here is intended for children under three, because small parts and small humans are a famously bad combination.
